"Δneko here, comin' at you for this month's theme!"
"Hope that the scenario provided last month got your creative juices going, and apparently it did! So here are the highlights:"
"It was a really tough decision between the two best stories this month, both of which had really cool takes on the prompt. Take this honorable mention as a badge of honor: Bus Trip by AbNom, looking like a story from an urban fantasy anthology. I won't spoil what happens in it, but do take a read yourself!"
"Alright, on to the feature of the month!"
"This story actually ties the use of public transport into the setting, beyond just it being a means of gathering a sample of the 'public' together. It's also got quite an interesting take on a potentially practical use for transformation, and I found that element interesting."
"confusedkangaroo! You got the Highlighted story of the month! Leave a comment down below for what you'd like! Or send a note, whatever you want."
"Alright, as usual we have our raffle prize, and the winner is..."
"Draco-Firestorm! Same thing, you can leave a comment to what you want, or send me a note!"
"Right then, here we go on to the month's theme!"
"We're back with another month of technical writing practice!"
"This month, we'll be focusing on tails! Thinking about it, having an extra movable limb, for a human who doesn't typically experience that type of motor functions, it'd be quite a thing, wouldn't it? Not that I'd know, cause I'm a cat. (Well, sorta.)"
" Write a transformation story of any premise or plot, but with focus on the change regarding the tail, and the sensations of moving it afterwards! Think about how what your experience would be if you suddenly had a tail. What kind of sensations would be sent to your brain? How would you move it? Could you use it to emote?"
Submit your entries to the May 2018 folder!
Remember, you have no obligation to participate every month. This group is a writing prompt group first and foremost, just to encourage people to write and give various ideas for new stories~
The last entries will be accepted on May 31st, 2018. A new theme will be in effect after that, so get your entries in before then!

Not so Farfetched(Farfetch'd and other Pokemon Tf)The flight from Mistralton City, Unova, to Heahea City, Alola, was surprisingly quiet. There couldn’t be more than 10 passengers on the plane, which was definitely big enough to fit many more. Having said that, it was a very early flight and the majority of people here would be on business, including himself, and the only exception seemed to be a woman and sleepy toddler. Thomas glanced in her direction, easy to do so as he was in the middle row next to the path that the air attendant occasionally trotted along and she was the row diagonally opposite him, also on the edge. She held in front of her a photograph, and Thomas could just make out a man in what appeared to be military uniform. Thomas wasn’t aware of any news concerning war, so maybe this man had just been training in the region.
Thomas relaxed, shifting a little in his seat as the journey continued. It was a rather boring ride, but it was a frequent part of his job. He was a Pokémon Centre Inspector and thus

Secret Agents (May 2020)
Howdy doody, buckaroonies!
It's ya boi, the guy with too many internet names that all begin with "D". Ah pfft, that doesn't matter, y'all can call me Dexter. Whatever the case, it's that time o' month again, and I'm here to bring you your latest and greatest prompt! I'm sure y'all got your minds reeling with information overload with everything that's going on, so here's your chance to both distract yourself for a little while and put all that pent up-iness into words with a brand new story of a bit of a different kind.
Of course, we all love our feel good, slice-of-life, wholesome tales of regular people finding themselves again with a new
I saw it in a Movie once (April 2020)
Hi all!
Looks like I'm the next alphebetically (is that how it works?) so I'm offering the prompt for April. Now, I know things are rather... trying right now. I hope all of you are keeping as safe as possible during this time. There'll be no self-isolating prompts from me though!
Instead, we're going to the movies.
I saw it in a Movie once...
Something about the situation causes a character (be they transformee, observer etc.) to remember a movie. The movie can be real or fictional, but something about what is going on is reminiscent of a movie. Could be the setting, the transformation, the people involved, almost anything. Maybe they are
Through Their Eyes (March 2020)
Um, hello? Is this thing on? Oh, yeah…
Hi! After three years of being the most wonderful host to Shape Shifter’s Monthly, sponsoring the prompts and supporting Secret Santa’s as well as providing prizes for the competitors, real life caught up with Magical and he had to post February as the last SSM.
But too many of us like what he’s been doing to just let him go, so a few of us have gotten together to offer to take turns issuing prompts and judging the entries, to sort of spread out the effort (and to keep Magical involved by taking a turn every so often). And in his continuing graciousness, he has agreed to let us
Closing Thoughts, and the Future of SSM!
Hey everyone, Magical here! As the last theme draws to a close, I'm happy to see that this little writing prompt group has been popular enough that people want to see it continue! The support I've received has been amazing, and I'm glad I was able to run this for so long!
I'd really like to thank everyone who's participated, especially the regulars (you know who you are!) It wouldn't be the same without your creativity, and each story is always a pleasure to read through, some even inspiring! Likewise, I hope some of these story prompts have inspired you as well!
It's been a good run, and while I can't commit as much time to reading and crit
